About

Sarah Moon is a visual artist who uses color, scale, and energy to create otherworldly paintings, installations, and videos. Growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, she spent her formative years coloring at the dinner table, constructing imaginative fairies out of recycled soda cups, and painting murals on the basement walls of her family home.

She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia with a BFA in painting. She completed her MFA at the Sam Fox School of Art & Design at Washington University in St. Louis.

Her large-scale, maximalist paintings express the transformative power of play by blending dance, painting, and collage to achieve an exhalation of delight, wonder, and joy. By painting mythical creatures, vast surreal landscapes, and imaginative playscapes, the blank canvas becomes a portal into a world where limitations dissolve, colors saturate, boundaries are fluid, and reality is malleable.
